These terrible creatures inhabit one of the planes that deal with terror and pain, and feast upon sorrow and heartache as their main course. Often they bond themselves to someone in this reality who can lead them to a continual source of sorrow either directly or indirectly and will offer a number of things in return; great power or combat prowess are often the choices, but access to magical arts are sometimes chosen. To feast upon sorrow, a Sorrow Demon must exchange places temporarily with the person they are bonded with, translocating to this reality so that they may touch those afflicted with sorrow. Often the sorrow is removed completely, consumed fully by the demon, but sometimes there are side effects that cause mental or physical trauma to the person carrying the sorrow, which increase with the strength of the sorrow being consumed. Once the demon has feasted, it returns to its home plane and its bonded host returns.
