For the first time ever, the classic Star Wars video games X-Wing and Tie Fighter are now available to purchase online digitally through a new partnership through GOG.com and Disney, who now own all LucasArt properties. Disney are releasing up to 30 titles over time over at GOG according to Polygon, with these titles being some of the first released. The digital releases of the games cost $9.99 each and are released as Special Editions; for X-Wing this means it includes the Collector’s CD-ROM and the Tour of Duty expansion pack, and for Tie Fighter it includes the Defender of the Empire expansion and includes the 1994 DOS and 1998 Windows versions of the game. Both Special Editions also come with additional goodies as normal at GOG including manuals and strategy guides, and the games remain DRM-free like all games on the site. Both games are Windows-compatible only.
Also released today are Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition, which been on other sites. The never before available Sam & Max Hit The Road indicates that a number of classic adventure games from the LucasArts back catalog may be making an appearance on the site. These adventure games are ideal for offering up puzzles for your own old school games to confound and confuse your players, and GOG offers a large number of classic point-and-click games to purchase.
